Our partner UNIGE has organised a workshop on “Radial compressor instabilities” in December 2015.
In the 3 hour workshop, Prof. Lorenzo Ferrari from CNR Florence has explained the main results and observations that his team has achieved in the field of radial compressor instabilities over the last two decades.
His experimental activity has been supported by the company GE Oil and Gas, which interest is on extending the flexibility of their compressors for oil and gas applications. In such a respect, it is fundamental to characterise, mainly from an experimental point of view, the impact of the impeller and diffuser geometry on the stall and surge features of the compressor.
Prof. Lorenzo Ferrari has illustrated a variety of experimental data, focusing on vaneless radial compressors, some of them with clear interpretation, some of them needing further investigation.
